The New Intel Xeon Workstation and RTX 4090 Combine Can Draw Up To 1,500W of Power

The Intel Xeon W workstation CPU codenamed "Sapphire Rapids" has finally been released to the general consumer market. Usually, a workstation-class CPU requires a high-end GPU, such as the RTX 4090. If you plan to take this hardware combination, make sure you have a sufficiently capable power supply unit.

The reason is, a technology journalist from China with the username Extreme Player tried a combination of Intel Xeon W with an RTX 4090 graphics card. After overclocking (each core of the processor), it turns out that this combination requires up to 1,440W of power. He then shared his work on Chinese video-sharing site Bilibili.

Furthermore, Extreme Player recommends a power supply with a capacity of 2,000W if you want to use this combination. Power supplies with these specifications do exist on the market, but they are very rare. Another option is to use a dual power supply as this motherboard supports that scheme.
