When compared with the previous laptop design (MacBook Air) which has a thickness of 1.7cm (0.68 inches), the MacBook has a thickness of 1.31cm (0.52 inches). In fact, the MacBook Air itself is fairly thin. However, Apple is still trying to be thinner.
However, this turned out to bring up other problems. The thin concept means that besides being lighter, it also wants to be more portable, and durable. The following are the main problems on MacBooks.
- First. For the sake of pursuing portability and long battery life, the MacBook uses a Dual-core i5 processor with 7 Watts of power. Indeed, this processor gives the computer a long battery life. But due to its weak processor, it can't even play 4K Youtube videos. Indeed the screen is not designed to display 4K resolution. But for a $ 1,299 computer that can't handle simple things (like 4K video) this is obviously very annoying.
- Second. MacBook only has one port (for the sake of pursuing a thin design). You can't charge your cellphone and charge your Macbook at the same time. You cannot connect an external drive and connect other devices at the same time. Apple provides a solution by providing additional hardware in the form of a dongle. However, the idea of carrying the dongle wherever they go actually eliminates the impression of portability and simplicity.
- Third. Macbook laptops, whatever they are, usually have good speakers. However, Macbook 2017 doesn't have it. Very thin computer designs cause larger and stronger speakers to not fit. This also means that the small integrated microphone on the computer has worse audio.
- Fourth. The webcam provided only has 480p resolution. In fact, the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro series already use a webcam with 720p resolution. 720p resolution itself is actually very less, but Apple instead provides a worse resolution in the newer series.
- Fith. For all of the above problems, Macbook (2017) is not worth enough at $ 1,299. He can't even compete with his own product, that is, Macbook Air at a price of $ 999 (Previous design); which has better speakers, a better processor, a better webcam, more ports.
